Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are all-in-one units that pair with solar to provide a steady stream of electricity to ensure facilities will never be without power. When grid-connected, BESS can also be used to store energy during periods of time when more energy is available and less expensive. That energy can then be used to offset demand during periods when availability is limited or expensive. Based on the size of the project, our team will work with clients to ensure that the right BESS system is selected for maximizing reliability and revenue.
We find that a renewable portfolio of multiple energy sources is the way of the future, liken a situation with photovoltaic and wind energy combined. When the sun is blocked out from snow storms for multiple days, wind energy could supplement that energy loss, while conversely when it is not as windy the photovoltaic array can fill in. The ideal situation would be for multiple renewable energy sources tied together with a battery energy storage system which turns into a micro-power plant that has constant, residual energy production.
